ABOUT DISTRICT COURT

The Judgeship of Palamau with its head-quarter at Daltonganj is in North-West direction at a distance of about 165 km from Ranchi the capital city of Jharkhand. The judgeship was established on 18.07.1960 with its first District Judge Sri Rash Bihari Aikat who headed the judgeship till 11.09.1961. Civil Court Palamau came under the Jurisdiction of Jharkhand High Court w.e.f. 15th November,2000. Earlier Garhwa and Latehar were two subdivisions of Palamu, but subsequently, they were separated and made districts.

The new Building of Civil Court, Palamu was inaugurated on 13.12.1990 by the Hon’ble Chief Justice Sri Gangadhar Ganesh Sohani of Patna High Court. There is a Video Conferencing Hall in the main building which was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Justice Sri D.G.R. Patnayak of Jharkhand High Court-cum-Zonal Judge of Palamau Judgeship on 08.06.2007. It is used for appearance of under trial prisoners of Central Jail Medininagar as well as other jails of the state. It is also used in recording evidence of witnesses.

It consists of one new building,one old building,one fast track court building,forms & stationary building,prosecution cell building,e-Sewa Kendra,Waiting hall for advocates & court hazat.
